Fikru Gebremariam, born 1973, Ethiopian artist FIKRU is an independent painter with a career spanning almost three decades. A career that spanned close to 30 years and saw more than 35 solo exhibitions around the world.
Fikru has stayed an independent painter all along since he graduated from the School of Fine Arts (now Ale School of Fine Arts and Design at AAU). A dropout student from Howard University ( Washington DC ), Fikru managed to exhibit his works in and outside Ethiopia including Europe and North America where his paintings are in the hands of mostly anonymous collectors. Known for being one of the most prolific Ethiopian painters, Fikru also spent 10 years in Paris continuing to experiment with his craft.
