Project Description:
This project, titled ‘A Want of Place’, will showcase mixed media abstract artworks that explore complexities around culture, identities and the fraying social fabric of our late stage capitalist landscape. Through a clash of colors and unconventional compositions, I aim to deconstruct the idea of material success and the inauthenticity that often permeates consumer culture.
For these pieces, I draw inspiration from kitsch aesthetics and pop culture, using irony and exaggeration to highlight the absurdity of societal expectations and the limitations of the capitalist dream for marginalized communities. Beneath the appearance of phony cheer is a deep melancholy and heartbreak for the socio-political landscape of our times.Try it!
