Description
"For me, Singapore is, in many ways, one of the most progressive cities in the world. It is far ahead of others, especially in environmental protection. You cannot help but be overwhelmed by the audacity of its futuristic ambitions. Canyons of skyscrapers dominate downtown, yet everything is remarkably green. In stark contrast, Singapore’s trendiest, oldest, and most relaxed district, Tiong Bahru, offers a different pace. Bicycles roll leisurely past geometric Bauhaus and Art Deco facades. People sit outside cafés, enjoying the unhurried atmosphere. Everything feels slower. It was here that I looked through the wide-open window of a ground-floor flat. Fascinated by what I saw, I asked the occupant if I could photograph the room. This moment gave me an intimate glimpse into the living culture of Tiong Bahru’s residents at 3:42 p.m. on December 10, 2016. I truly hope it remains the same."
