Inspiration
Oceans Blue II is inspired by the coastline of South Devon and North Cornwall. This particular painting show a large turquoise blue and teal green waves breaking onto the shore. The sky is pale cerulean blue. The light coming through the cresting wave is a combination of turquoise, emerald and teal green. The deep shadow of the wave is a mixture of viridian green, indigo blue and oxide yellow. The foreground shows sea-foam rising up and under the waves.
Medium
I like to work in oils because of their versatility. You can layer the paint so that it has a translucency. Also It is so robust a medium I can scrape the paint back or scratch into it too. This is another in my series of wave paintings which I started many years ago.Try it!
