Angela Vásquez is a Dominican film and digital photographer interested in the relationship between people, memory, and coastal landscapes. Her work is primarily based in beach communities, where she documents everyday scenes, local traditions, and the social and environmental transformations that occur around the sea. 
 
Through a sensitive and nostalgic lens, she explores how summer spaces become settings for encounters, work, rest, and belonging.

"This photograph was taken while visiting a beach where I have been developing a long-term documentary project about the daily routines and traditions of the local fishing community. For months, I have been returning to this coastline, building relationships with the people who live and work there, and documenting their everyday lives with care and respect. The young woman portrayed in this image is a Haitian immigrant who lives in this coastal community with her siblings. She has become part of the social fabric of the place, and meeting her offered me a quiet reflection on belonging, resilience, and identity. While walking along the shore, I was drawn to the calm determination in her presence. The vast sea before her became a metaphor for uncertainty, but also for possibility. For me, this photograph speaks about the search for direction during moments of vulnerability. Even when we feel lost, there are invisible forces - memory, hope, community, or the landscapes that shape us."

"I believe a film camera records the world as it is, as light reflecting off physical things and touching the film negative directly, rather than the world as it is merely perceived. Light that once existed is not reconstructed as pixels. It touches the negative directly, as grain, leaving a physical trace. This photograph shows a single piece of driftwood, washed up on the shore. The negative and this tree were, in that sense, actually in contact with one another.This tree once stood rooted somewhere on land that had never known the sea, before it crossed the water and arrived here. What did it witness along the way, and what does it think now that it has arrived. These are things I cannot know. What I can be certain of is that the whole of this uncertain time is held within its decayed, altered form. As someone who develops her own film, I face that uncertainty in the dark, by hand, right up until the final moment the image is fixed."

Lena Niehusen, born in Schwerin in 1998, studied communication design with a focus on photography at the Hamburg University of Applied Sciences. She completed her bachelor’s degree there between 2019 and 2023 and successfully completed her master’s degree in April 2025. She lives and works in Schwerin and Hamburg. 
 
In her photographic practice, Lena Niehusen explores the tension between portraiture, fashion and documentary approaches, examining how personal identity becomes visible within the context of social structures. 
 
Her work is characterised by a sensitive eye for observation and a clear visual language that combines intimacy and distance, closeness and reflection.

Luz Olavarria is a 25-year-old Puerto Rican photographer currently based in Florida, USA. 
 
Proud of her Puerto Rican heritage, she carries that sense of identity and pride with her wherever she goes. Photography has been a passion of Luz’s for as long as she can remember, but in December 2025, she made the decision to fully commit to her craft and begin sharing her work with the world.

"Portrait of David on 120 film. 120 is just such a great format for portraits, but what I learned from trying portraits is just how much more light my Mamiya needed compared to my 35mm cameras. For this photo, when I pressed the meter, it showed that everything was already perfectly set up, and luckily, it was. There’s so much character in this portrait, and I love the quality of the frame. I don’t think I could have gotten as good a photo on 35mm."

Dustin found his love for photography in 2009 while studying in Paris, and remained a hobbyist for more than 15 years before taking an interest in expressing himself as an artist. 
 
Early in 2026, he found he had a passion for black and white street photography, and in March began experimenting with film. He continues to refine his voice as he looks for quiet resolution in the empty space he places his subjects in, and connection in the characters he finds. 
 
"I started shooting on film just this year, and I’ve spent a good portion of my first four months experimenting with different film stocks, different styles, and different mediums. I loved shooting digital for years, and I had attempted film in the past, but this year I really committed to it. It sparks a different creative energy in me. Anything I shoot on digital, I could shoot on film, but would I? Film makes me slow down and not just fire away."

"Path to the beach on 120 film. On my Mamiya 645, I get just 15 exposures, so I tend not to want to take more than one photo. I actually did take three of this spot. This is the one that came out. The first had too much motion blur, and the second was actually accidental (whoops). For this one, I moved up into more light, and it came out perfect."

Iván Sagüés Luque is a 21-year-old photographer based in Madrid, Spain, currently exploring film photography. His journey began with a film camera found at a flea market and a roll of Kodak Gold 200. 
 
Working with film has encouraged him to slow down and approach photography with greater intention, carefully considering each image before pressing the shutter. He is equally drawn to the process after shooting: developing his work in the lab, making prints, and spending hours refining each image until it feels right.

Jan is obsessed with the texture and grain of analogue photography. Capturing the simultaneous absence and presence of light and time is his way of coming to terms with fundamental issues such as loss and mental illness/health.

Born and raised in Athens, Efi Laskari began her professional life in the world of letters, graduating in Greek Philology from the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens and establishing a long career as a text editor. This foundational appreciation for structure and narrative eventually led her to the Athens School of Fine Arts, where she graduated with Honors, specializing in painting. Her practice has since expanded into photography and video art, refined through specialized workshops. 
 
Currently pursuing postgraduate studies in Fine Arts at AKTO Art & Design College on a full scholarship - under the academic supervision of Middlesex University - Efi continues to evolve her visual language. Her work has earned international recognition, including being named one of six finalists for the Institut Français du Design’s "Explore Outside the Box" competition.

"Drawing opens a different kind of space. Through graphite, charcoal, and line, I access inner sanctuaries of the self - psychological landscapes that allow for introspection, revelation, and gradual healing. This space becomes a personal architecture where trauma is not only expressed, but transformed. Much of my work centers around the idea of threat - violence understood not just as physical harm, but as shifts in identity, disorder, emotional dissolution, or the embodiment of pain. These themes are explored in tension with emptiness and even death. I view nature as both refuge and enigma - a place of organic decay and regeneration, a theater for secret rituals and chthonic forces. I am drawn to its cracks, shadows, and silences."

What started as experimentation slowly became a way of preserving time itself. Each advancement in film stock and camera design brought images closer to everyday life, making memory something physical.

For much of the 20th century, film became the way the world was seen and remembered. Its history is embedded in archives, newspapers, and personal albums, a collective visual memory built frame by frame, long before digital immediacy reshaped how images are made.

Today, film is still loved for its slower rhythm, material presence, and element of chance.
