"I photograph places through the people who inhabit them. My interest is rarely in creating a comprehensive portrait of a country or culture. I am more interested in fragments: a gesture in a market, a woman waiting beside an old telephone, the rhythm of a loom, children occupying an improvised space, a procession passing through a familiar street. Small situations often reveal more about a place than monumental images do. Much of my work comes from walking. I observe how people appropriate streets, thresholds, markets, houses, religious spaces, transportation, walls, and the countless intermediate places where public and private life overlap."
"Guatemala. An Indigenous woman stands beside a public telephone against a yellow wall. Tradition, urban infrastructure, and silence meet in a single frame, turning an ordinary street corner into a portrait of presence, waiting, and changing forms of connection."Try it!
