"Across my current projects Deadenings and Chroma, I explore the emotional possibilities of photography, manipulating colour, repetition and distortion to move beyond the simple representation of a subject. I am drawn to the tension between what we recognise and what escapes us, and to the unexpected forms that emerge when an image is allowed to become something other than itself. With Deadenings, I focus on dead and dying flowers, drawn to the moment when beauty begins to deteriorate. Petals bruise and wither, forms collapse, and eventually the flowers are discarded. I am interested in this fragile transition, when something once admired becomes overlooked, its value seemingly diminished by the passage of time."
