I primarily work with oil, though I often use acrylic due to Singapore’s tropical climate, where I have been living since 2023. My recent works explore two major themes: 1) Nature and Human Activities I recreate moments from my personal experiences with nature, inviting the audience to relive the emotions and experience its powerful presence—often in surprising urban settings. As an active runner, I encounter vast meadows at dawn, untamed jungles hidden behind crowded residences, and aging buildings awaiting demolition amidst half-built urban landscapes. The sky, in all its shifting forms—clouds, colors, and climates—fascinates me. Though my landscapes lack human figures, they carry a deeply personal essence, drawing viewers in as if they inhabit the scene themselves. I am particularly interested in the interaction between nature and human intervention—how farmland, villages, bridges, and buildings shape, and are shaped by, the land. One of my works, a lone human figure as a tiny dot against a colossal rock, encapsulates the paradox of our presence—both significant and fleeting. 2) Family Family is another central theme in my work, spanning my aging parents to the family I have built through marriage—my husband and our daughter. This exploration is deeply personal, yet universally resonant, touching on themes of love, change, and the passage of time.
